$8,000 of funding available to business owners

The Queensland government has implemented the Jobs Assist Program. The objective of the program is to provide financial support to assist owners to improve business performance. This is a terrific opportunity to access government funds to strengthen your business. The application process is quick and easy. Support will be provided in two stages:

Stage 1 will provide up to $3,000 to assist the client to engage a consultant to conduct an assessment of the client’s business and develop an Action Plan to address all strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of the business, including an effective reporting process and select strategies and actions to support and improve the business.

Stage 2 will provide up to $5,000 to assist the client to implement the activities identified as immediate priority tasks in their Action Plan.

Eligibility

To be eligible to apply for funding your business must meet the following criteria:

1. employ 10 or more FTE's.

2. be one of the following:

  • located within the following areas: Ipswich area, Logan/Springwood area; Narangba to Noosa; Southern Wide Bay - Burnett; Bundaberg - Harvey Bay; Cairns; Townsville - Thuringowa.
  • fall within the following sectors; Advanced Manufacturing, Creative Industries, Information and Communication Technology, Marine, Processed Food, Fibre Composites, Tourism, Wine, Therapeutic Medicines and Devices, Aquaculture, Biotechnology, Alternative and Renewable Fuels, Environmental and Mining Technologies and Services, Defence, Aviation and Aerospace, Liquified Natural Gas.

3. have an established operating base in Queensland.

4. have an ABN number (registered in QLD) and be registered for GST.

5. be experiencing one of the following:

a. the variation in working capital is negative and has declined by more than 25% between the two points in time i.e. 30 June 2009 and the most recent reporting period, or

b. the business begins the two point period with negative working capital and remains in that position at the end of the two point period.
